JCAIMA Celebrates 10 Years!
Jersey City Asian Indian Merchants Association (JCAIMA) celebrated their 10th anniversary of the founding of one of the most effective business organizations in Jersey City. Close to one hundred members and their families were in attendance.
With over 85 businesses within a two block area, Newark Avenue under the leadership of this private, member organization has achieved in just the last two years:
- the largest public, outdoor celebration of Navratri in New Jersey
- planned and completed construction on a wholly privately funded parking lot operated and maintained by the JCAIMA, offering off-street parking to employees, business owners and customers adjacent to Newark Avenue
- in cooperation with the Journal Square Restoration Corporation, 2005 looks forward to organizing community support for a streetscape improvement project along Newark Avenue between the Boulevard and Tonnelle Avenue which will look to see the construction of new, safe sidewalks and other amenities

Hindu year-end festival draws crowd to LSC
Indian pop music boomed from the lower level
of the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, where people sat on
the carpeted floor, watching a large screen projecting dances being
performed in the center's theater one floor above.
