Is the First in a Six Concert Series
Jersey City, NJ, October 12, 2009 – Johnny Maestro & The Brooklyn Bridge and Larry Chance & The Earls will be the headliners as Jersey City Magazine presents Doo Wop at the Loew's at 8:00 PM on Friday November 13, 2009 at Jersey City's landmark Loew's Jersey Theatre on Journal Square. The show is the premier event in a six-concert series showcasing the historic theatre and the city's vibrant Journal Square District.
The concert series' promotional partners include the Journal Square Restoration Corporation, Friends of the Loew's, the City of Jersey City and Square Ramp Parking. The United Jersey Blues Network is the music partner for the concert series. Media partners include The Hudson Reporter Newspapers and WFDU-FM. The concerts are funded with contributions from the Journal Square Restoration Corporation as well through the Jersey City Urban Enterprise Zone program.
Tickets are $30 for Preferred Seating in orchestra rows A-R, and $25 for General Admission and are available online at www.loewsjersey.org and by calling 800.440.7654.Tickets can also be purchased on Saturdays from noon until 3:00 PM at the Loew's Jersey Theatre box office, located at 54 Journal Square. The cost of parking for ticket holders will be reduced for the event to just $5.00 at Square Ramp Parking, located directly behind the theatre.
Jordan Galatz, President of the JSRC who represents the second generation of a family owned Journal Square Midas franchise, said the concert series provides added incentive for people to visit Journal Square in addition to the diverse shopping and dining experiences to be found in the district.

Johnny Maestro and his band are still performing and recording as they enter their fifth decade, pleasing fans of 1950's rock and roll worldwide with renditions of their first gold record, “The Worst that Could Happen” and other hits like “Welcome Me Love,” “Blessed Is The Rain” and “Your Husband, My Wife.” Larry Chance & the Earls represent the music that helped define rock and roll, the original doo wop era of the 1950's. Decades later, the Earls continue to please audiences with their flawless harmonies, high energy performances and endearing dedication to their fans.
Built for what was then the impressive sum of $2 million dollars, the historic Loew's Theatre opened in 1929 and was called ‘the most lavish temple of entertainment in New Jersey.' It was also one of the state's biggest theatres with just under 3,100 seats, and one of the best equipped theatres of its day.
