Capital One to Partner with Magnolia Avenue Block Association For 10th Annual Clean-Up

Journal Square Restoration Corporation’s “Clean Team” Will Support Community Event

Volunteers from the Magnolia Avenue Block Association (MABA), Capital One Bank and the Journal Square Restoration Corporation (JSRC) joined forces for the 10 th Annual Magnolia Avenue Summer Clean-Up and Barbecue on Saturday August 15 th. The volunteers, including Journal Square residents, members of the business community and municipal representatives, contributed to an effective public/private partnership with the goal of a cleaner and more attractive environment on Magnolia Avenue and throughout the Journal Square area to make the district a better place to live, to work and to visit.

Jerry Milsap, President of the Magnolia Avenue Block Association (left) worked with Kellee Davis, Capital One Bank volunteer, to organize the clean-up efforts.

The event centered on an overall block clean-up and enhancement of public and private properties including graffiti and litter removal, painting, weed cutting and tree trimming. The event also included children’s games and prizes, in addition to great food and refreshments.

Mark Redfield, Chairman of the Mayor’s Quality Of Life Task Force, and Assistant Director for Housing Code Enforcement and Dave Calton, North District Community Relations Officer from the Jersey City Police Department, were presented with MABA’s 10 th Annual Community Service Awards as part of the day’s activities.
